Great shots, romeopapa and lurker!!!
Romeopapa, my Mopar of choice, if I were to choose one I'd like to own, might be the good old 1969 Dodge Charger with the 440 you described and the huge, funny-looking spoiler on the back. Remember those? Those cars could outrun the cops!!! My '72 Polara had the 360 V8 in it and went fast enough. I also recall driving my '68 Mustang up over 100 MPH on several occasions (never got caught). That car was a babe magnet for sure. Fur-lined interior that was the same bright canary yellow as the outside of the car, racing mirror, hoodlocks, slicks, dual glass packs, the whole 9 yards, 3-speed on the floor, but it only had the standard 289 V8 in it, but so what??? It was a looker. But it was a Ford. And that brings be to the subject of why I don't like Fords. I have owned two Fords and a Mercury in the last 15 or so years. Every GM and Chrysler vehicle I have owned since 1985 has lasted till at least 140,000 to 150,000 miles or more. Two of the 3 GM cars would have lasted longer had they not been totalled (one was by as a**hole who drove his car knowing he had no brakes and broadsided my wife, the other was my fault). ALL of the Ford products developed MAJOR problems (bad enough to force me to junk them) at about 80,000 to 90,000 miles. One of them was a '93 Ford Tempo that I bought new. At about 80,000 miles the oil pump just outright quit. Instant goodbye engine. Had a used engine installed. When that engine had about the same mileage, I was driving down the interstate on my way to work one day when the same damn thing happened. (I had just had my oil changed too, BTW.) Pressure light went on for a split second and that was it, another engine kissed goodbye. So I have sworn off Fords for the rest of my life.
