Oh I believe it

Pantene wants their customers to grow their hair long because they have totally suborned the concept of long healthy hair! I.e., "pantene hair." But their products contain tons of silicone, which is a foreign substance and makes a woman's hair brittle over time! And then they want the ladies to cut their hair short because it eliminates the evidence!

If you actually saw Diane Lane's hair on that program before the cut, you'd see it was layered, limp, and looked like had tons of splits. Additionally, it had obviously been colored. Thus, it's valueless except as a symbol, because colored hair can't be used to make commercial wigs.

Thus, Pantene certainly will benefit from this PR campaign (associating themselves both with beautiful celebrities AND charity).

And not incidentally, did you see how choppy and amateurish the resulting bob looked? The hairdresser's hair itself was fried, bleached, and nasty looking.
