Re: Moderators?

by Contaminator

I don't think that the Moderators could do a better job, just have a look at the timestamps of the spam messages, they always come in waves. As much as I like the open architecture of this forum I think that a forum which requires a registration (like most forums do nowadays) would make it less attractive for spammers. I guess it will be about the same effort for moderators to ban registered spammers but much more work for them to always register new accounts and probably lead to the realization that the absence of spamming-success is not worth the work.

I like that this forum doesn't look like any other vBulletin-/Lithium-Board out there but in contrast to most of those spam is a real problem here. On the other hand it's mostly a cosmetic problem since spam can easily be identified even without clicking. The titles are just too dumb and spammers too stupid and/or too lazy to customize their thread with a "hairy" punchline to lure us into their trap.

Just my 2 cents. /shrug
