I definitely agree! So many teenage girls suddenly started to grow their hair and bangs long in about 1985, and the ugly perms dissapeared. At least here in Scandinavia. Unfortunatley they all cut their butt-length mane in about 1992. I loved to watch MTV "The grind" and rock videos. Movies lake the The blue lagoon and Splash made me go nuts. Playboy had palmy days, perhaps because they easily could find gorgious models with waiste length hair and longer.

Female long hair was also common in mid 70:th and in the end of 60:th. I think something similar was about to happen in the end of 90th, but it was interrupted. Right now long hair is quite rare, especially on american and japanese actresses and pop stars. Russian ladies on the contrary have extremely long and beautiful hair these days.

A hypothesis: Could the women hair length be correlated with the business cycles, just like the skirts are shorter during business booms when people can afford to party?
