I remember asking a similar question ages ago. If I remember correctly Ninja said something about the replies being "tiered" or "treed" or something like that, and if a post gets turned off then every reply to that particular post is automatically then hidden as well. I remember the post you mention, and possibly the moderator "deleted" the offensive post in their opinion and your reply suffered the same fate. Just a thought...
