All Yahoo Groups need a moderator but it's the approval process that most of the newer moderators do away with. If you notice, you can subscribe to most groups these days and be viewing pics 30 seconds later... On your site, you have to be "approved".

You can always delete what people post there (as moderator) if you don't like it. But hey, it's your group. You can do what you choose...
